Bridging the gap........
The goal of the VVSC U10 Academy is to teach the game of soccer in a fun and challenging way, while introducing the concept of travel and a higher level of competition. The early years of athletes development are crucial for developing a love for the game while mastering technical skills. The emphasis and focus of our U10 Academy is developing individual player skills, creativity and ball mastery in a engaging and fun environment. VVSC U10 Academy is designed to bridge the gap between recreational soccer and our competitive program.
Our introductory level starts with children aged 7 and goes through age 9. Our goal as a club is to have VVSC U10 Academy kids successfully transition into competitive youth soccer. A certified coach provides the proper foundation for developing technical skills while introducing teaching game awareness and soccer IQ.
U10 Academy practices will be led by Coach Maggie, our 3 to 9 year old Director, and her selected staff. Coach Maggie is a licensed US Soccer Coach with more than 15 years of coaching experience. She enjoys teaching the fundamentals of soccer and focuses her time on individual player development. She has collegiate and professional playing experience, which gives her a deep understanding of the importance of motivating players, mastering core skills and sharing her love of the game. We are excited to have her lead this program and coach this group of youth athletes.
Academy training sessions will be based around the individual player and developing their basic soccer skills. Dribbling, passing and shooting skills will be the focus of each practice, giving players a solid foundation. And a scrimmage ends a majority of practices to teach on field awareness and working with teammates. Jamborees are organized on certain weekend days to give the players experience competing against other teams around the Western Slope.
